In V-engines and engines with bottom mounted camshafts, push rods are used to translate the valve opening action of the cam lobe to the valve through the valve lifters / cam followers and rocker arms.
Push rods need to be extremely rigid and lightweight to transfer this force while reciprocating several times per second. Hence hollow push rods made from steel tubes are quite popular as are forged steel ones. The two ends of the push rods are induction hardened and polished to a mirror finish to minimize wear and fatigue cracks at the working ends.
Straightness is an important geometric characteristic of the push rod, as even the slightest natural bend in it can be exaggerated under operating conditions, causing it to fracture and cause catastrophic damage to the engine.
Only the best manufacturers of push rods in India supply the AutoGRACE® brand marketed by Garima Global to its quality conscious customers around the world.
