AutoGRACE®
Valve Springs

Ensuring the Valves Have a “Spring” in their Step

Valve springs have just one challenging function – to ensure the valves close in a controlled manner with enough force to ensure an air-tight sealing between the valve and the valve seat insert.

PRODUCT

This entails the following requirements on the springs:

  1. CONSTANT CONTACT: When the valve is closed the spring force must be enough to prevent it from bouncing off the valve seat insert, while during opening it should arrest the valve tip from losing contact with the cam as it passes over the peak of the cam lobe ("fly-over").
  2. MINIMIZE SPRING FORCES: To achieve maximum fuel efficiency, frictional losses in the valve train should be minimized, for which spring force must be reduced by optimizing its shape and resistance to vibration.
  3. HEIGHT REDUCTION: By increasing fatigue limit and optimizing its design, spring height can be reduced. This improves fuel efficiency and gives more space and flexibility to design the engine compartment. Over an engine’s service life of about 200,000 km each valve spring will go through 300 million loading cycles.

Partnering with leading valve spring manufacturers in India has enabled Garima Global to develop and export high quality AutoGRACE® valve springs confirming to OEM specifications to discerning customers globally.

TYPES OF Valve Springs

DESIGN

Popular shapes of valve springs are:

cylindrical & symmetrical

cylindrical & asymmetrical

conical

beehive

The cross section of the spring wire may be round or ovate / multi-arc. The ends of the springs may be ground flat and/or chamfered to ensure parallelism with the mating surfaces.

MATERIAL

The older Cr-V steel grades are increasingly being replaced by Cr-Si for greater tensile strength and lower non-metallic inclusions. High-tensile Cr-Si-V and Cr-Si-Ni-V wires hardened by oil tempering or induction hardening and then annealed to reduce internal stresses are also used extensively. Surface may be shot blasted to induce residual compressive force that counteracts the tensile stress during operation.

Whether you requirements are for automotive, heavy-duty, OTR / earthmoving, industrial or agricultural engines, you can rest assured that Garima Global will supply a high quality valve spring made by one of the leading valve spring manufacturers in India under our watchful eye.
